Salt Replacer
An increase in body temperature, because of exercise, or because of hot weather will result in sweating. Water & electrolytes (body salts) are lost in sweat, and both need to be replaced for the horse to continue to perform to the best of his ability. These losses will occur in all horses as they sweat - whether they are international competition horses, ponies during the harder work at camp, or riding school horses at weekends in hot weather. So whenever any horse or pony has sweated heavily, the fluid loss and the electrolyte losses must be replaced. High performance horses should have fluid loss replaced as soon as practical (often actually during a ride for endurance horses), by offering a solution containing approximately 6-8g sodium chloride (salt) per litre of water. The rest of the electrolyte losses should be replaced through the use of the recommended dose of BALANCED' Salts Replacer in the feed - once the horse has recovered sufficiently to be offered feed. Fresh plain water should be offered at this time, or sooner if the likely feed time is some hours away.
